We are delighted to officially announce that American producer Robert Lyness has optioned the rights to bring Thief, by Liam Rudden, to New York.
Robert has been invited to stage the play as part of the United Solo Play Festival – the World’s Largest Solo Play Festival.
A well known face on the New York theatre circuit, Robert says, “I was blown away when I saw Stephen Humpage in Thief at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and knew I had to find a way to bring it home to the States.
“It was one of the best theatre productions I have ever seen. As a piece, it was one I thought about for weeks afterwards.
“I strongly believe that more people should see this work, so much so that I am putting up my own money to bring it to New York.
“The Solo United Festival is the perfect platform and I was delighted when they invited me to stage Thief as part of their 2016 programme.
“When I contacted Stephen Humpage, the actor I had seen in the role in Scotland, and discovered he was available, it was a no brainer to sign him up and bring him over.”
Thief will be performed at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, New York City on 4 October 2016, at 7.30pm.
